We live in a restored 1837 tenant's farm
house in rural Schuyler County, New York. The original house was
modified in the 1950's, but one or two old pictures survived from which
we were able to piece together the original look. Of course, we
used some imagination and borrowed design elements from period farm
houses in the region.
Modifications done in 1993 by Chicone
Builders of Montour Falls included complete rewiring and plumbing,
addition of an office, a family room and a sun room in the back.
In addition, they installed many recycled structural elements including
heart pine flooring salvaged from an old granary in Pennsylvania.
The house is furnished with primitive antiques, typically pine,
reflecting the 19th and early 20th century as well as craft furniture
from Georgie's father Henry Raupp.
